When Faniel jumped in his Bay Icon Jeans Outfit he suddenly became so damn old school.
I had to catch him in his b-boy stance.
Don't be afraid to have kind of short jeans, you will look like hell without kicks on, but with em on and the jeans just laying without creases on the uppershoe the look ll be thight!

Yesterday I hung out with eight guys in between 16 and 21, some packets of nylon socks and a whole lot of 2pac.
It came out as a efficient shoot, we were prepered for the worst with 8 youngstas...the biggest problem was the size of their feet but with your mamas nylon socks you can make a 45 a 42...the guys went home with a new lesson.
For this shot we put a lot of work in finding the models, my nieces Hermon and Isabelle should get a lot of credits along with Magda among others, they had have their eyes open for a while haha ;). & vet var man ska hitta minikatterna...

Selam always drops this pose, I don't know why cause it's not like it's good....hehehe

Silas from Soulland and his friends will hang out on BLACKMARKET on St Eriksgatan 79 tomorrow and on Saturday, to show the new collection. I will write more about it later on but honestly; you should be on the look out because me like it a lot. Soulland will take the next step from not just being one of these t shirt labels anymore with this collection.

"No One" has been stuck in your head for a couple of weeks, Im not sure what I think of it, of course it's a H I T but I can't help being a little annoyed by it... but I always used to be that hard core hip hop chick too, it's not like I don't feel beutiful songs-I do, but my over all favourite songs has always been the ones with a tempting suggestive funk into it, non-happy, non-sad
Alicias new track "Like You Never See Me Again" is also a beutiful one. She uses Common as the Video Vixen (damn vixen is a fairly femenine word....Im gonna work on that one, the counterpart to the video chicks, please fill me in if U got a expression on it...).
What strikes me first is how she sings, she s been working with her way of singing (You definitely hear it in No One, it almost ugly in some sections) more then anything else. In this song she reminds me of someone of the 70 ies soul divas, I just don't get who in this very minute...
The thing I miss in this video is like in Marys case: the visual language.... thoose videos ain't worth their divas. Today the videos is a big part of the artform, work with new people, get new ideas! Of course all us thinking ladies got big love for Mr Common and his Sense, but when she did You Don't Know My Name (Helen jag tänker på när jag var hos dig i Harlem och den här låten släpptes, jag får rysningar-jag måste komma över snart!!!) with Mos Def - that was something new. In 2003. This video is even shot in the same filter, colors and all....
But in a way this might not matter. The music and the singing is in the center, Ima go and listen to it in my Ipod.

Im back on Track. Sorry have had a hella bizzeyyyy week with Haleem "Stringz" Rasul here - straight from the D...to the etroit! More on that when I get pics from BucknGrind by Cosby.
We moving back in time, the updated reader know I visited South Africa in September where I was reporting from the big B-boy event RED BULL BC One in Johannesburg and also did work out a fashion shoot in Cape Town with talented South African photographer Xander Ferreira.
For the shoot in C T we used some great homegrown MCs, sweet and kool E-Jay Von Lyric (also a member of the group GODESSA), our Witch Doctor Jitz and then Mr Fresh; Spoek from Sweat X (and Play Doe ). Franscheska Philips helped us out with the make up (great job girl!). Apollonia was the muse for it this time, and Anthony (also a friend of my boy Shukrie who was stuck in Port Elisabeth this time =( )helped Xander out with some of the photo assistance.
Westarted out in Kayelitsha one of the townships outside of Cape Town and a part of Ca
e Flats (where Hip Hop in SA started out, Prophets Of The City and Black Noise s from here) where Jitzvinger is living with his family. We took the picture in front of his neighbours house, yes it's just next to his familys house....this is what people talks about; the contrasts of South Africa.
In the middle of the shoot the coops came rolling through but they decided to not bother us. Jitz sweet brother was giving us an helping hand while the younger sisters was keeping an eye on us, while playing Beyonce on there cellphones.
Jitz raps in Afrikaans and he was an ingenious and very kool guy, I wish I would have understood more cause Im pretty sure his punchlines were smart as hell.
Xander and Jitz outside the house
The star of the South African female super group GODESSA. E-J took some time off to come back from Johannesburg were most of the music biz takes place. She came togheter with her husband and producerpartner Greenville, togheter they formed The High Voltage Crew and they also produce other artist like Themba among others.
E-J, Franscheska, Greenvilles mom and sister
Greenville was recording the whole set!
One of thoose outfit that never made it to the shoot, didn't really fit the rest so we skipped it. Btw The shoes MTV Yo Raps Dre & Ed Lover limeted Edition Puma Clydes are to small for me, they 38,5 if someone in Sthlm wants them holla at decidastyle@yahoo.se. They 1199 kr in store you get them for half the price (cerice laces to and the shoes is never used)
Then we went downtown, I can't remeber the name of this area but Xander told me to have cash in my pockets if any local gangster's gonna show up and mess with us. Luckely no one did.
Jitz is working it in front of a building (not seen in this picture) resambling of Cuban architechture. In Cape Town you can get it all, that's why a lot of advertising is done here (and of course because of theopposite winter/summer to)
Beutiful E-J
curious kid!
We got a great photo of Spoek in front of this old shop, I love the typography in the sign....thoose locations man!
Spoek in one Of Craig Natives hoodies. You're going to see more of this guy Im telling you.
Just some places from when we re looking for locations
It was a looong day and we finished off with an amazing picture with Spoek outside a barbershop with paintings of Snoop, 50 ie, Dre and DMX....stay tuned and you ll see the result soon!

I'll stop by EYE N..I and MTV Beat today FRIDAY sometime in between 18.00-20.00. We we'll be focusing on dance (Pump Up The Jam etc) and I'll get the privilige to pick out a dance video. Unfortunately isn't exactly every video avilable in Sweden so I couldn't really pick and choose. We instead decided that I would do my own fav list here on the blogg as a complement to the show! This one is pre -95 and MJ excluded.
D E C I D A s' favourite PRE - 95 Dance Videos
- Talking Heads "Crosseyed And Painless" (1982)
Tony Basil did the video to this funky song from the classic New Wave band Talking Heads. It was so funky that the legendary Popping Pete from Electric Boogaloos, Ana "Lollipop" Sanchez among others came to get down..... THE WHOLE STEELO: OH MY GOD!!!
- Janet Jackson "Alright" (1989) (by Julien Temple, who also did"When I Think Of You" 1986 )
Cab Calloway, Nicholas Brothers, Cyd Charisse what more to say!!! One of my all-time favourite videos because of the clothes and the set design. Heavy D added to the myth that fat people got more groove and I remebered how I tried to do the handkerchief routine without realizing it was Locking. This is the Long version!!!!!
- Kool G Rap and DJ Polo - Streets of New York (1990)
A masterpiece, still get the shivers from the intro, the video is sooo beutiful and the dancers are dropping classic moves. All togheter: A CLASSIC!
- Malcom Mclaren "Deep In Vouge" (1989)
The Vouging Master; Willie Ninja (RIP). Before Madonna did hijack the Vouge…
- Chrystal Waters "Gypsy Woman " (1991)
You recognize the prodd...this is one of the first music videos capturing House Dance NYC-Style. Feat Caleef Sellers, Peter Paul and E-Joe
- Lionel Richie "All Night Long" (1983)
Cheeeeeesy BUT check the boogie kids...one of them is no other then Michael 'Boogaloo Shrimp' Chambers (see also Chaka Khans "I Feel For You"...to obviouse for me to choose ;))
- LORDS OF THE UNDERGROUND "Chief Rocka" (1993)
A classic among B-boys; LOTUG wanted to feature Crazy Legs (Rock Steady Crew)a o during the early 90'ies- at a time when b-boying had to leave room for other dances.
- Lalah Hathaway "Baby Don' Cry" (1990)
New Yorks Hip Hop freestyle pioneers joins forces, alot of dance clips with Sweden Friend Link
- Newcleus - Jam On it (1983)
Mos Def did the remake of this classic song from the electro era. Electric Boogie yooooo!
- EPMD "Give The People" (1990)
One of the rap groups that use to have dancers connected to the crew - this should be Fendi and Stezo I think (yes he later became rapper and did "Bop Ya Headz" if someone remebers)
link
- Def Jef feat Etta James - Dropping Rhymes On Drums (1989)
Soulbrothers was dominating the West Coast at this time
- Redhead Kingpin "We Don’t Have A Plan B" (1989)
Redhead Kingpin had his dance posse The F.B.I.
Wreckx n Effect "New Jack Swing"
Made us call it the New Jack Swing-dance ;)
