The Stephen Sprouse Book
The Fashion Designer Stephen Sprouse is highly topical again along with all the other 80 ies icons (Grace The Jones etc). Sprouse pioneerd the 1980s mix of "uptown sophistication in clothing with a downtown punk and pop sensibility", one could have called him an american version of our JP Gaultier back then in the 80ies. He was allowed to use Warhol as prints, worked with Debbie Harry, Duran Duran and a bunch of other high profile people back then. Last year i-D Magazine used a lot of Sprouse Vintage n I know that some of my friend have been all crazy up on Ebay trying to snatch parts of his early 80 ies collections.
The Stephen Sprouse Book will be realesed on januari the 8 th (my birthday!) along with the second Louis Vuitton/Sprouse collection.The Exhibition “Rock On Mars” is a retrospective on designer Stephen Sprouse (1953-2004) that will be taking place at Deitch Projects from January 8th.
Louis Vuitton first collabo back in 2001 with Sprouse, was the graffiti bags, but this time around they re not afraid of his colorways either, but I can't help to wish they would have done this second callabo like 1,5 year ago...then it would have been 100% on point!
